Elopak is committed to reducing its environmental footprint. We report annually on our progress towards reducing our environmental impact and the implementation of our strategy. See our latest Environmental Report for details.
Reducing our environmental footprint
Product Carbon Footprint
Elopak has developed a tool to calculate the carbon footprint of each specific Elopak carton type. It is called DEEP (Dynamic Elopak Environmental Performance tool). DEEP provides emission information connected to production of raw materials, internal operations, and all transportation up to the delivery at Elopak’s customers’ gate. This is called cradle-to-gate and is what is normally presented in an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The methodology used is in line with the ISO standards for Life Cycle Assessments (ISO 14040 and 14044). The Product Category Rules for beverage cartons are followed where relevant to the carbon footprint calculation methodology (PCR Beverage Cartons 2011:04 Version 1.0, developed in accordance with ISO 14025:2006). Elopak’s customers can receive DEEP documentation upon request through their local Elopak organization.
Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
We also report annually to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which is an independent not-for-profit organization holding the largest database of primary corporate climate change information in the world. For more information on CDP, visit https://www.cdp.net
Elopak is a member of the Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) database. Sedex gives the possibility to store, share and report on information regarding labor standards, health and safety, environment and business ethics. By being part of this data exchange, we are supporting a culture of openness and transparency throughout the supply chain.
