The Shikoku S-PLF50UC is the latest new Flex machine, and provides a platform for the filling of fresh and ultra clean family sized cartons from 1.5 litres to 2 litres. “With the addition of this machine, the Shikoku Flex series
provides solutions across all our fresh and ultra-clean formats from Mini to Standard and family size cartons. This represents a significant simplification of the equipment portfolio for our Fresh systems” says Harold Ruben, Elopak’s Product Application Manager EQS. The new filling machine completes a family of three which includes the medium capacity S-PSF70UC (7000 packages per hour) and the high capacity S-PSF140UC (14000 packages per hour). Both these machines fill carton sizes up to 1 litre with the flexibility of fast conversion between carton sizes and formats. Over 12 Flex machines have been installed with customers so far, with the first machines in the series running successfully in production for 1.5 years. The latest addition, the S-PLF50UC can fill a wide range of products and chilled life possibilities. The machine also enables switching between three carton sizes and three closure sizes with a short lead time and minimal manpower. As with all the Flex machines, it features Elopak’s Embedded Data Capturing System (ELOEE) providing full efficiency data capturing for improved process performance monitoring and traceability. “The Flex machines have been developed with higher hygienic, efficiency and consumption standards with customers benefitting from low utility and operational costs,” adds Harold. “They have a small footprint thanks to a compact design for efficient plant design and layout, and with minimal external equipment there is a significant reduction in installation time.” The Flex machines provide the efficient and safe filling for fresh and Extended Shelf Life dairy products with up to 28 days’ shelf life and juice products with up to 60 days’ shelf life in chilled distribution. “This new generation portfolio of filling technology provides the production flexibility and operational efficiencies across many different product types, various packaging configurations and shelf-life options,” adds Harold Ruben. “It is this advanced flexibility that is crucial to manufacturers in today’s fast, complex and competitive markets.”
