CarbonNeutral® cartons

Since Elopak became carbon neutral, we have compensated more than 109 000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. Elopak has been a carbon neutral company and offering carton neutral cartons since 2016. We provide carbon neutral packaging, which compensates for the emissions from raw material production, waste, transport, our manufacturing, business travel and onward distribution. Essentially, carbon neutral packaging extends the scope of emissions to include all the emissions associated with our cartons.

In order to become carbon neutral, there are certain criteria and standards that must be met. First, we must show that we are continuously working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with regular measurement and monitoring. Elopak has been formally tracking greenhouse gas emissions since 2008, and report on this annually. However, tracking alone is not enough, we must also demonstrate that we are reducing our emissions. Elopak continually invests to optimize production in order to increase energy efficiency and reduce raw material use and waste. However, there will always be some residual emissions. To become carbon neutral, Elopak compensates emissions by supporting projects which have proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with health and societal benefits.
