Category Manager Indirect

Category Manager – Indirect Procurement

Elopak is seeking a Category Manager to oversee Elopak’s part of indirect procurement categories and drive cost optimization and efficiency improvements across the organization. In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Chief Procurement Officer, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure procurement strategies align with Elopak’s strategic objectives. You will manage the indirect area; which both include direct reports and distributed responsibilities in a network organization. You will be expected to manage some categories directly and some through the team, and your functional expertise will be vital in overseeing the work being done in indirect categories such as utilities, travel, IT, indirect services, etc.

As a Category Manager Indirect at Elopak, a critical task will be to drive the transformation in procurement processes, convince & manage internal stakeholders, enhance supplier relationships, and achieve sustainable cost reductions. This position is ideal for a proactive and hands-on strategic procurement professional that get energized by driving through changes and with a robust background in indirect procurement management.

 

Key accountabilities and primary objectives for the position:

  • Value Creation: Develop and implement holistic procurement category strategies for indirect categories in partnership with internal stakeholders and suppliers, emphasizing cost reduction, risk mitigation, and leveraging innovation to drive competitive advantage
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate, convince & manage internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure alignment of the procurement strategy with business objectives
  • Supplier Management: Manage supplier relationships from selection to performance evaluation, ensuring compliance, cost-effectiveness, and fostering long-term partnerships
  • Contract Management: Draft, negotiate, review, and manage contracts to mitigate risks and ensure supplier accountability and performance
  • Cost Management and Market Analysis: Drive cost optimization and budget management by leveraging in-depth market analysis to anticipate market trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly
  • Process Optimization: Streamline procurement processes and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Integrate sustainable practices into procurement strategies, aligning with Elopak’s commitment to environmenatal and ethical commitment

                     

Experience and qualifications required:

  • Education: Master or Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, economics, or a related field
  • Experience: Minimum five years of experience in procurement, specifically managing indirect categories in a multinational corporate setting (across different business entities)
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to develop strategic approaches to procurement that align with corporate objectives
  • Negotiation Skills: Expertise in negotiation and contract management, with a proven track record of securing favorable terms
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in analyzing complex data to inform decision-making and improve procurement operations
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, capable of effectively engaging and influencing various stakeholders
  • Project Management: Experience in leading projects focusing on strategic procurement and cost reduction
  • Technical Proficiency: High proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with SAP is advantageous
  • International experience: Good understanding & exposure to working across countries and culture
  • Integrating Procurement: Contribute to better collaboration and alignment across all procurement-related functions & stakeholders in the Group

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is essential; additional languages are beneficial
  • Innovative Thinking: Ability to propose innovative solutions that enhance value and efficiency within procurement
  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in the packaging or manufacturing industries is highly advantageous
