Boermarke extends plant-based line with drinks, pudding and yoghurts in cartons

Boermarke B.V., one of the leading European partners for plant-based cheese, yoghurt and ice cream production for the retail and foodservice sectors, is launching a range of dairy alternative drinks, pudding and yoghurts in Pure-Pak® Sense cartons with Natural Brown Board.

Boermarke sold its dairy operations in 2023 following a reported 800% growth in its plant-based dairy alternatives production. The introduction of the drinks, pudding and yoghurts in the carton packaging are the latest in Boermarke’s planned fully plant-based product line that will be available across Europe under its Vairy brand and via private label.

In April 2025, Boermarke began its collaboration with Elopak by installing a new ultra-hygienic filling machine at its Enschede site.

Full-service supplier for private label

Boermarke supplies a large range of chilled and frozen plant-based products including cheese, yoghurt and ice cream to the upcoming dairy alternatives market in Europe. The company launched its plant-based brand Vairy in 2015 with its coconut yoghurt and has since expanded to plant-based cheese and ice cream products. Boermarke’s private label products can be found in all Dutch supermarkets and major grocery chains across 21 European countries, such as Edeka, Lidl, Albert Heijn, Aldi, Colruyt, Billa, Salling and Mercator. The puddings are available in four flavors; vanilla, chocolate, caramel and orange. These are all fortified with added calcium and vitamins B2, B12 and D.

“We are intensifying our partnerships with retailers in all our core categories; yoghurt, ice cream and cheese, expanding from 4 to 21 countries in the past 18 months,” explains Klaasjan Joosten, Commercial Manager at Boermarke.

As a full-service supplier of private label products, we want to provide packaging solutions across all our categories. We are very pleased with the new Elopak filling line. The launch of our yoghurt products for the foodservice sector is the first step for the carton packs.

Dairy alternatives without compromise

“What matters most to consumers is that our plant-based dairy alternatives taste just as good as traditional dairy. It is first of all about taste, taste and taste,” adds Klaasjan Joosten. “Around a third of consumers are flexitarian. If we are able to offer a good alternative, more people can switch from dairy, which contributes to a more sustainable planet. Therefore, we are continuing to develop a fully plant-based range without compromising on taste, quality, and nutritional values.”

The pudding range will be joined by a selection of new recipe and flavor ‘Mild & Creamy’ yoghurts, which are also filled in one liter Pure-Pak® Sense cartons.

The complete packaging partnership

“With Elopak, we have a comprehensive supplier who can meet all our packaging needs,” adds Klaasjan Joosten. “The machine from Elopak is highly efficient, helping to improve shelf life and ensuring products of good value and quality.” Sustainability and service played a key role in selecting Elopak. The company is the dominant carton supplier in our market providing fully recyclable packaging that is highly convenient and offers eye-catching design opportunities.

The partnership with Elopak helps us in our ambition to become the leading plant-based dairy alternatives producer in the world, providing tasty, affordable and sustainable products
